He was born in Huntington Beach before he moved to Santa Ana. Ortiz is half Mexican of his paternal family. His father was Sam Ortiz and he gave the name Tito. He was a troubled child because both his parents were addicted to heroin. He was a member of the gangs. He also used drugs like cocaine. As a youngster the teen was taken to juvenile halls. His parents divorced when he reached 13. He attended Huntington Beach High School where wrestled. His mother was adamant about him being kicked out when he turned 18.
